Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire in Montreal's West Island is a tiny, sleepy town. A lot of people who aren't aware of the name mistakenly believe that it is the West Island extends westward from Montreal. Actually, this is not the case. West Island includes everything westward from the city of Lachine. Amanda Brugel was born there, but her time there was short. Brugel lived in Courtice close to Oshawa. She was determined to be a professional dancer, but because of a huge expansion, she surpassed the dance partners she had. An article in the Toronto Star article revealed she's 6 feet 1 inch tall and has heels. After I outgrew the male dancers, I decided to quit. A lot of former dancers go on to acting, and in Brugel's situation, it was a nudge from a high school drama teacher that encouraged her to go in that direction. Her teacher encouraged her to try out to play the character of Anne in the school's annual production. She was chosen to play the principal role in Anne of Green Gables after she had a go at. She was given a Fine Arts Talent Scholarship to take part in York University's Theater Program and graduated in 2000 with a degree of Bachelor's in Fine Arts. Brugel's career spans over 20 years and she's been in over 60 productions that have screened on large screens and on smaller ones. Her most notable role was the one of Rita (pictured beneath) on The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel was the only Canadian cast member for the season 1 of the show and was only seen occasionally.
